Meet Legerity’s New Graduates

The beginning of Q4 2019 has been particularly busy for Legerity, especially for our recent graduates. We are pleased to announce that we have three new graduate team members; Dawid Meic, Harry Hirst and Marni Straughan. They have taken time out to answer some questions about their time so far at Legerity:

Dawid Meic – Graduate Developer Operations

What made you want to work for Legerity?

“Applying to jobs straight out of university is quite daunting; it is a lot of pressure and sometimes you feel like you have to change who you are or be someone else to fit in. Legerity does not feel like that. It was the close nature of the team with the big ambitions that grew my interest. The individuals who work here are what make the company environment supporting and welcoming. When I had my initial interview, I had a great conversation and after going for my face-to-face meetings and learning more about the company and the opportunities it presents, I knew Legerity was where I saw myself.”

What does your everyday role include?

“As a graduate, I spend most of my time learning and developing my skills and gaining an understanding of how Legerity FastPost operates and functions. I am also acquiring more knowledge about the business use case with IFRS17, accounting rules and finance sub-ledgers. I am currently working on a programming project – on both the front and back end development. My day-to-day work includes research into the feasibility of particular developments and new technologies that may be useful. My understanding of Legerity increases every day through interaction and conversations with senior employees.”

What have you enjoyed so far since working at Legerity?

“I have enjoyed how the experience is different from university, though I still have the opportunity to learn. I am given the opportunity to engage and interact with supportive people who have welcomed us to the company with open arms. ”

Harry Hirst – Graduate Developer Operations

What made you want to work for Legerity?

“I wanted to work in a company where you can have a meaningful impact on how things progress and a better understanding of and involvement in the entire production process. Every day feels like I’ll get to work on something new and exciting.”

What does your everyday role include?

“So far, my role has mostly consisted of familiarising myself with the various technologies we use and coding solutions to the various tasks I am assigned.”

What have you enjoyed so far since working at Legerity?

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone and have met hard-working people with similar goals. The office building is also very nice. There’s the roof garden with amazing views all over London and the showers in the basement which I use after my bike ride in to get ready for the day.”

Marni Straughan – Graduate Marketing Executive

What made you want to work for Legerity?

“Legerity is an innovative and future-focused company where they are invested in making real change to the industry. As a fast-growing company, there is a lot of opportunity to make an impact straight away. As a recent graduate, this meant a lot to me as I know I would be given responsibility form early on and trusted to creatively execute using the skills I gained from university. I have been working here for a month now and I studied Media and communications at Canterbury Christ Church University and graduated in September with a 2:1.”

What does your everyday role include?

“Every day at Legerity is interesting, I love that my role varies – it keeps me on my toes! My main task is to create and manage social media posts, where I create a content plan every Friday for the following week; to ensure our messages are relevant and resonate with our audience. I am also responsible for creating campaigns and identifying new marketing opportunities for the company. The team is lovely, and I am always supported and encouraged.”

What have you enjoyed so far since working at Legerity?

“The view! I love working in front of a good view, for some reason, it seems to motivate me! Our offices are beautiful, and we have the best view of London. But besides that, the team here are very friendly and welcoming, so although I am fresh out of university, I have been made to feel at home with Legerity. I also admire the fact that our CEO Jeremy Wood is very invested in giving opportunities to graduates and people at the start of their career, especially in an era where it is very hard to get jobs out of university. I would recommend anyone who wants to grow freely within a company while still learning along the way, to apply for a Legerity graduate role. Your career will thank you!”
